The month of March has been a dream for anybody's earphones. From To Pimp A Butterfly to Mr.Wonderful, albums have been dropped left and right. It's fairly easy to lose track of some of the smaller projects that come out during a hyperactive first quarter of music. In that case, you probably haven't given Pronto a proper listen.
Enter Freddie Gibbs, fresh off Piñata, his critically acclaimed collaboration with legendary producer Madlib. Although the album had earned Gibbs universal acclaim from numerous publications, it remained to be seen how he would follow up such a phenomenal project.
March 9th rolls around and Pronto is released without any considerable promotion from anywhere other than various online mag features. But don't be fooled, Gibbs is still as sharp as a tack on this offering. Hazy and spacey, Gangsta Gibbs delivers some of his signature roughneck rhymes along with elaborating on some day-to-day activities. It's definitely worth a listen and be on the lookout cause who knows what else could drop this month.
