Whether you like Lupe Fiasco’s music or not, I am sure everyone can appreciate the letter Lupe Fiasco has written on Instagram addressing racism following the recent shooting in Charlestown. While many rappers have been avoiding recent cases of racism, he has decided to say what many fans have wanted from rappers for some time now.
Lupe has always made his political views a large part of his music. The letter is addressed to the “white supremacy” ideology and features pictures of the shooter Dylan Shooter covered with SUPREME inspired logos.
It begins, “First of all you are not really that supreme”. He later adds “There is nothing about you biologically or physically that denotes an innate mode of supremacy. For that matter there is also nothing about you psychologically, philosophically, cognitively, academically, socially, architecturally, culturally or even financially that signifies a higher position above any other group. “
He continues to debunk the idea of “white supremacy” and expose it’s absurd nature, eventually renaming it “white regularity”. A bold move by a brave man, you can read Lupe Fiasco's full letter below as well as a letter Nas posted on Instagram, addressing similar issues.
